Image result for social mediaHowdy, today I will be talking about the advantages and disadvantages of social media and my opinion on it. Personally, I have mixed emotions about social media because it has many positive and negative effects.

A negative effect of social media is that it provides a massive platform for bullying to occur. A lot of people use social media to spread rumours and with the easily accessible advanced technology, it can be spread in seconds. Another negative effect of social media is that people use it for scamming other users. Hackers set up websites that are scams and sell items that are fake for unreasonable prices. The scammers trick the customers into buying the items and then get access to their credit card details and personal information. I think that people that use social media for the wrong reasons should be banned from using the site. This is because people who are bullied through social media or hacked, often develop health related issues such as depression and anxiety. If the cyberbullying gets out of hand, the problem can escalate and possibly lead to suicide and long- term health problems.

Some positive effects of social media is that it's the main form for company's to raise awareness of their business and recruit new employees or brand ambassadors. Businesses use social media to promote their business by paying to post ads on news feeds and videos. Customers then see the products and want to buy them, therefor allowing the business to earn money. In this generation, many people make jobs out of social media websites such as YouTube, Facebook and Instagram. Millions of people watch their videos and will follow the influencers and then they get paid. Social media allows people to connect from all around the world, forming friendships and help keep in touch with distant relatives. Therefore I think social media is very beneficial for todays society.

Social media vs awareness Mackenzie Walker On June 30, 2014 the world of social media was introduced to a new challenge. The challenge was to pour a bucket of ice water over your head and to challenge a friend to do the same with in 24 hours.
